Jetour’s X70 is gunning for the sweet spot so many South Africans chase: proper family space, all the must-have features, and a price tag that doesn’t make your eyes water. On paper at least, it’s up against the Haval Jolion, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, and MG ZS – all names you’ll find parked outside local schools and shopping centres. Jetour only offers a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, paired to your choice of a traditional auto or DCT, so don’t expect fireworks at the robots. With prices from R399,900 to R498,888, and a median of R459,900, it’s clear Jetour is targeting that magic sub-R500k ceiling. Stock split is close – 19 new versus 16 used – which says the X70 is still in the warm-up lap with local buyers, but interest is ticking up. Most buyers land on the 1.5T Deluxe – that’s where 22 of the 35 units sit, running from R439,900 to R484,900. It’s what the X70 should have been from the start. If you’re counting every rand, the Momentum spec (R399,900–R454,900) is your launch pad. Used examples have barely hit 3,000 km on average – so you’re getting that showroom smell for less. What sets this Jetour apart is seven seats at this price, a trick the Jolion and MG ZS just can’t pull. For families needing that extra row but not keen on spending Amarok money, the X70 quietly fills a gap – and that matters.
