Mahindra’s Scorpio-N wants a slice of the same pie as the Ford Everest, Toyota Fortuner, and Isuzu MU-X, but it’s taking a different angle: honest seven-seat practicality and proper 4WD for those who can’t stomach the usual price tags. You’re locked into a diesel-auto combo (no manual, no petrol), but that’s standard fare in this crowd anyway. With just 12 listed across the country — stretching from R379,900 to R589,999 and a median of about R495,000 — you can tell it’s still a newcomer, not yet flooding the classifieds like its rivals. Four are new, the rest used, so patience and luck play a role if you’re hunting for the right spec. Most of what’s out there is the Z8L 4WD auto, and on paper at least, it’s what the Scorpio-N should have been from the start.
