15+ Daihatsu Cars for Sale in South Africa

Daihatsu's presence in South Africa is almost ghostlike these days—neither properly extinct nor really in the game. You don’t just bump into a Daihatsu on the dealer floor; you go hunting for one, usually with a mission. There are only 11 used examples for sale, each priced from R82,500 to R159,995, and the R109,950 median says you’re shopping at the entry end of the market. These are honest, no-nonsense cars, bought for function over fashion. Anyone scanning Daihatsu listings is probably also eyeing a Suzuki Swift or an ageing Hyundai Getz. Nobody’s here for the badge; it’s the bottom line that matters.

On paper at least, the Terios is holding down the fort, making up 9 of those 11 listings and spanning that full price range—from R84,950 to R159,995. It’s what the Terios should have been from the start: a straightforward, compact SUV with just enough ground clearance to handle potholes up to Kyalami’s infamous speed bumps, but without the headaches of expensive parts or premium fuel. The Sirion pops up twice at bargain-basement prices—R82,500 and R89,500—which makes it one of the most affordable used hatches you’ll find that’s still worth registering. All petrol, no diesels, no hybrids. The split is telling: South Africans kept the SUVs running, not the hatches. And while Suzuki keeps its model lineup fresh and the dealer network ticking, Daihatsu offers neither—because that’s the point. You’re not buying into a brand; you’re buying a tool that just keeps going.
