The segment’s crowded—Haval H6, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Volkswagen T-Roc all have skin in this game—but MG’s pitch is clear, on paper at least. With just 7 active listings (R479,800 to R539,995), don't expect to twist sellers’ arms on price. That slim pickings tells you the HS isn’t exactly flooding Gauteng or Cape Town streets yet. Six out of those seven are used, but “used” is a stretch—these are nearly showroom-fresh, all 2025 or 2026, clocking not much over 6,500 km. The 2.0T AT Luxury trim dominates the listings, ranging from R483,800 up to R539,995, while the 1.5T DCT Luxury sneaks in at R479,800. The 2.0T AT Comfort splits the difference. What sets the HS apart, especially against its Chinese rivals, is the cabin. MG’s gone for better materials, a more logical screen layout, and fewer fiddly controls. That's the point. The whole experience—from software to the way the buttons feel—lands more polished than you’ll find in most first-wave Haval or Chery products, which matters if you’re stepping up from a mid-spec Kia or Toyota and want your money to feel well spent.
